Approximately 7,000 SEA Games Delegates to Visit Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: The Cambodia Southeast Asian (SEA) Games Organizing Committee and Cambodia ASEAN Para Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC/CAMAPGOC) held a meeting to prepare for the welcoming of SEA Games delegations to Cambodia in 2023, which is estimated to bring in about 6,000 to 7,000 delegation members.

In a meeting held at the National Olympic Committee office on Tuesday, 20 December 2022, the Joint Committee of CAMSOC and CAMAPGOC stated that they will jointly inspect the preparation of food and accommodation for the arriving delegations, and conduct a final evaluation to be ready to welcome delegations arriving at the end of December 2022.

The President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, Thong Khon, recommended focusing on accommodation, food, hospitality, and venue preparation to be ready in all aspects to host the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games in 2023.

The Secretary-General of the National Organizing Committee for the 2023 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, Vath Chamroeun, emphasized that at the end of December 2022, the Joint Committee will inspect food and accommodation and carry out a final evaluation to prepare for the welcoming of delegates and international guests, expected to be around 6,000 to 7,000 people, during the 2023 SEA Games.

He stated in an article published by the Agence Kampuchea Press (AKP), ”Overall, Dr. Thong Khon has urged the committee members to monitor and evaluate these matters very thoroughly. Starting from January 2023 onwards, everyone must work together at the game venue, at the Moradok Techo National Stadium."

He added that the next step is to have all the leaders and officials of the committees make a request to their respective core units to work together to coordinate and prepare for the smooth running of the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games in 2023.

Vath Chamroeun also confirmed that the preparations for the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games are nearly complete.
